Flake, anyone?
Episode 3 of War on Fish is now live, which is a single part episode that runs for just under 10 minutes. As you can probably deduce from the title, this episode opens up with a fine catch of a black tip shark that measured somewhere between 4 and 5'. Being rather fond of the lure that it decided to chow down on, I decided to boat this specimen instead of letting it go. This is the biggest shark I've landed to date and it was a bit of a handful yakside.
Following this is a few minutes that has been included to demonstrate a technique that is worth knowing when it comes to paddling, pedalling or sailing through sets of waves from the side. This is fairly spectacular footage, though it hasn't been included to impress, but rather to educate. Without knowing this technique of handling sets of waves that are coming in from the side it would be terribly easy to get caught and thrown out of ones yak.
The episode concludes with the aftermath of a wave that caught me unawares a few weeks back, clearly demonstrating why it's ever so important to leash valuables down, as well as a quick review of a suitable open water safety kit, as well as a custom-made kayak fishing tackle box.
