According to this post at the Hobie community forum, there is a new eVolve Hobie kayak motor in the works. I might have passed this off as rumor had Hobie's Matt Miller not chimed into confirm by saying that US Hobie dealers were informed about it last week. The newer model sounds as if it's going to boast some rather desirable features. According to Matt: 

Increased capacity from 230 to 320 watts. Increased range and runtime from 6 hrs to 8:20 at low speeds. Added a port to allow solar panel charging / running in the near future. The solar panel is not yet finalized, but will likely cost in the $1,000 range. The panel is said to charge the battery in about 6 hours or run the system at slower speeds.
