Today's session was meant to brief: get some shots of my new wheel cart bling and try to get some shots for a bream species profile in the works. I was actually very surprised how brief it was. After just five minutes on the water, the Nitro Voodoo loaded up and the drag made a squeal or two, did some paddle work to get out from under the trees, had the fish take me around a mono scarring branch or two, heaved it out, got towed upstream, then down. Eight minutes later I had 4.1kg of jew gaffed, photographed and was back at the boat ramp. I still can't believe how much these fish can't resist a Rapala Shad Rap! Taken on the run out trolling down current over the drop off toward a big hole, less than 2.5m of water. The strike was pretty hard, even though the fish was barely pinned a little above the lip. Sure it's a baby next to this specimen, but still made 10 serves filleted.
