Things that go 'boo'
Part 1
The first part of WoF episode 2 is now online, showcasing some shark fishing action in Shark bay, Woody Head. Each shark caught gets progressively bigger and harder to handle, although the first of them was small enough to bring aboard the yak. Throughout part 1 viewers will get to see the results of a Shark Shield test, which had such a dramatic result that I decided to stop doing it, as I figured the poor sharks had been through enough already.
The test is relevant though, because in episode 2 I've re-edited the footage of the great white encounter of '09, which then leads on to a discussion of sharks and what they mean to yak fishoes, the illustrious shark shield and how to go about using them. In part 2 viewers are also treated to some footage of dolphins, sea turtles and humpback whales as well.
Part 2
Part 3 features one of the toughest fights I've had to date (with a manta ray), as well as one of the most interesting (and regrettable) hook ups I've ever had - with a fully grown humpback whale. The third part finishes up with a demonstration on the Thule Hullivtor, performed by Katak Fishing Down Under's main man Biggles.
Part 3
I had planned to include voice over narration in this episode, though (using the software I am right now) that proved to be harder to achieve than I figured. Fortunately I do a fair of yapping on the yak and most of it is fairly audible, so in this instance it wasn't a huge loss. I did have to include a few instances of scrolling text (to better explain what is going on), but was careful to avoid it where the background footage was more engaging. I also slowed down the rate of scrolling somewhat to make it a bit easier to read. Although I was hoping to get away from resorting to this in this episode, it's far less jarring than in episode 1.
