Brett 'Shufoy' Ozanne

Above the 26th Parallel review

Author: josh

I was fortunate enough to watch Brett 'Shufoy' Osanne's latest kayak fishing video production 'Above the 26th Parallel' the other day and I'm glad I did because this is easily Brett's best (and longest) work to date and easily one of the best kayak fishing videos out there. Above the 26th Parallel is a 35 minute (plus extras) presentation that covers the YakFishWest & Western Angler annual trip to Wilderness Island WA. As expected there's some fine fishing action (not just from kayaks) on offer with some fabulous trevally and queenies on show among other species. I was particularly impressed with Brett's voice over narration as well as his better half Carmel's camera work, which was featured throughout.

YakFishWest founder and fellow Nitro Pro Team member Brett 'Shufoy' Ozanne has released a great trailer clip for his upcoming 35-minute kayak fishing DVD titled Above the 26th Parallel. Theres some awesome footage and fishing action here, obviously just a taste of whats to come when the full presentation is unleashed in August. With a soundtrack featuring the John Butler trio to sweeten the deal, this is really worth a watch. Here's some of what he has to say about it:

Breaming with Nitro and Sebile

Author: Shufoy

This is a short video i put together to thank the support of two of my new Sponsors, Sebile Lures, and Nitro Rods. It covers an afternoon hot yak fishing breaming session in south metro waters where we caught dozens of Black Bream on the new Sebile Crankster 35MR. It was also the first time i used the Nitro Vapor 6', 1 - 2kg rod, and i was impressed. Enjoy!

Hard Breaming - A Tale of 4 Fish

Author: Shufoy

I've been a bit quiet this year, had a massive setback on Christmas Eve when our house was broken into, my cameras, PC, all backups, all stolen...

Shattered is an understatement, lost a lot of footage i had stored for this year, plus endless photos and data. It's been hard to get past, and to not help the situation, the weather has been crap.

Needless to say, i've found myself exploring Perths southern metro rivers from the kayak quite extensively, and have had some epic sessions on big Black Bream as solice to my losess. Over that time i collected little footage, untill all my gear was replaced, and now, finally have something to show for my efforts again.

Murray Breamin

Author: Shufoy

Not the mighty Murray River from the east of Australia, but one of Perths best southern Bream waters, located on the outskirts of Mandurah, and home to some big, angry bluenose bream. Huge amounts of shoreline structure offer home and shelter to some superb fish, ideal for hunting for from the kayak

This is an accumulation of three seperate trips to these waters, using only the GoPro with some sound recording, gives a fair representation of bream fishing in this area. The fish start small, and get bigger, so please enjoy!!!

Yakfishwest Teaser

Author: Shufoy

At the captains request I put forward a short teaser vid for whats coming in 2011 form the Yakfishwest front, with both Josh and myself heading into much higher end video work, admittedly with our own styles i can see some great stuff coming from both our camps.

In this short clip, i start exploring the capabilities of my expanded editing software, as well as introduce the combination of the GoPro with a digital sound recorder, you WILL notice the improvement in sound quality. Also a few brief flickers from the new handheld cam, the Sony CX550 which has truly amazing video quality.I hope it wets the appetite, and gives a small taste of what's to come!

Well, here is the 2nd and final instalment from my Gnaraloo Station yak fishing trip. It includes some of the days spent on the Adventure Island fishing Gnaraloo Bay, and also some more Spango action from 3 Mile. Probably one of my best video's so far, with a rocking soundtrack, hope you get as much enjoyment from it as i did from making it! As always, watch in HD, with the volume up to neihbour scaring levels! Enjoy!

Gnaraloo Station 2010 Episode 1

Author: Shufoy

I recently returned from a trip yak fishing at Gnaraloo Station, about 1000km north of Perth at the southern end of the Ningaloo Marine Park.

Gnaraloo is a working Station, that is slowly being converted into a tourist mecca, and i styayed at the superbly setup 3 Mile Camp, which is right on the beach, and just north of the world renowned Sailboarding and Surfing break called Tombstones.

West coast snapper on plastics

Author: Shufoy

Here's the video of the 10 minute fight with my big Snapper caught from my kayak, not the whole 10mins mind you!! It's an abbreviated version, the landing sequence really put's the thickness of the fish into perspective! The spot is a well known Snapper haunt in Perth's Cockburn Sound, probably as close to my local spot as you could get!. Enjoy the vid, as always watch in HQ, with the volume up!!

Ahh, the Weekend!

Author: Shufoy

We have had some amazing winter weather over here lately, with long, sunny, windless days, ideal for yak fishing. Best way to spend it in my opinion is being on the water. Friday arvo i hit the local reefs on the Stealth Supalight with my bro in law, he on the Revo minus drive plus plug, a decent swell was still hanging around after the last cold front when through producing some great waves! A few SUP and other yakkers joined us in the superb conditions. My bro was stoked by the whole experience, and is now looking to buy a ski or yak of some kind! Enjoy the vid!
