- dunebuggy thanks for the post Re: Rescued boaty from Revo 11
- josh replied to the topic Re: Railblaza Mounts for the AI/TI in the forum.Trakport mount to be exact Steve, its the mounting adaptors that I'm drawing attention to specifically. We already knew about the Trakport. The mount adaptors built specifically for the AI is whats new.
Read More... - DB, freak accident I reckon. I didn;t see it, but I heard an eyewitness account, and sounds like motor issues may have caused it. I didn't ask the guy because I didn't want him to talk... he was flat out breathing as it was. He did talk when he managed to get to land, and I think he said the words 'thank you' about 4 or 5 times. I didn't hang around because I had to get back to the shop. The guy who lived in the property we landed him at came down to sort him out.

It amazes me what strife people get themselves into even in calm water. Do you think it was just a freak accident or was this just one of those MANY situation where we see someone on the water with no clue what they are doing?

- josh created a new topic Rescued boaty from Revo 11 in the forum.T'was a quiet old morning at work today, until some guy ran into the store to inform us that an old fella on a small tinnie had somehow managed to flip his boat, had capsized and was now hanging on to the side of it as he was floating upstream in the current. Sandy and I grabbed the nearest pedal yak available (Revo 11) and a vest as I ran the kayak down to the rivers edge where I was met by several concerned locals, including a police officer, who was kind of helpless. He just pointed in the direction of the trouble and off I went. I found the poor fella hanging onto the side of his boat right in the middle of the river (and its a big expansive part of the river) trying desperately to swim it in to shore. He was huffing and puffing when I got there, and he had about 100 metres to go. Boy was he glad to see me.
I reckon he might have made it anyway (he would have ended up in the shallows of Rocky Mouth), but he was able to relax when I got a hold of the tinnie and started pedaling it in towards the nearest reasonable landing spot.
Revo 11 was a good choice for the job. Small and light, I was able to run it over to the river in about 30 seconds. Its also pretty quick, so I caught up to him fast. And very manueverable, which helped a lot when I reached him. More I use this little yak, the more I like it. Its always my go-to yak whenever I do demos that require escorting, which is most of the time. Might now be my go-to yak when we have river emergencies such as tinnie capsizings!

Has its bad days like any bar I know, but for the most part, it's pretty easy going. Most bars are like that. That's why I chimed in after Bob's post, because I didn;t want the uninitiated to stumble across that and assume that crossing bars is simply too dangerous. Its not. It all comes down to the conditions. We all know... or we should all know... that bars can be hazardous. Operative word there is 'can'.

- Riddo created a new topic Railblaza Mounts for the AI/TI in the forum.I watched a video today from railblaza where they had 'blazed' a TI. I sent them an email to see what mounts they had used on the Aka's and was informed that it is a prototype that they will be bring out in April. I can't wait, it will be great to get my trolling spread a bit wider (and might be able to fit in another couple of rods
)

I'm sure there are plenty of good maratime blokes but most of the ones I've run into are definitely closer to the cowboy stereotype. It seems to come of giving police like powers to low level civil servants that don't have matching police like training.
