YCKFS: E7 Fraser Isl Expedition '11
- Written by Josh
Episode 7 of Yakass Coastal Kayak Fishing Show is now live, featuring a full report on our recent kayak fishing expedition to Fraser Island. Weighing in at just over 17 minutes I've crammed a fair bit of action into a single clip here, with wildlife, sailing and yak fishing scenes.

YCKFS:E6 Blades, Bibs 'n Jigs

Episode 6 of Yakass Coastal Kayak Fishing Show is now live, featuring a bunch of worthy fish - bonnies, mackies, jewie and snapper - caught using an assortment of lures; blades, bibbed and jig varieties. Watch into the credits at the end to see an absolute sterling snapper caught by Alby. It also includes a complete re-edit of the footage shown in the Monster Mulloway clip (which was a teaser for this episode), trimmed of fat and shows the action from a couple of different angles.
If you watch closely you may note that during the snapper-fest montage at the end I am reeling in one particular fish rather vigorously. Although the moment wasn't caught on the cam used in the clip and thus not at all evident in the footage, this hook up came in the vicinity of a reasonably sized shark (that looked like a great white to me), and I think XDCammer - who was on hand to witness it when it happened - would agree that the hook up came right when the lure passed over the exact position of where we watched that shark slowly submarine below.

I keep getting asked about this footage of the epic jewfish I caught from my kayak at Woody Head recently and although this segment is a part of the next installment of Yakass Coastal Kayak Fishing Show, the full episode is not yet ready for release. Due to popular demand, however, I thought I'd snip out this segment to present it as a bit of a teaser for the full shebang. Enjoy
YCKFS: E5 - Welcome to Winter

Episode 5 of Yakass Coastal Kayak Fishing Show is the largest episode to date, not just in time duration (22.35 mins) but more so in content. A massive 130+ files went into the making of this clip, 2 weeks of coffee drenched nights with several weeks of kayak fishing and camping proceeding it all. Throughout are brief snippets of footage recorded earlier - some of it seen before (some snippets from new angles), most of it not - including scenes from last years trip upstream of the Sandon river, where we cooked a roast on the back of the kayak.

YCKFS Ep3: Persistence

A lot of work went into this episode, not just on the water, but also compiling it. Once again, cobia are the flavour of the day, with a bit of stripey tuna action thrown in for kicks. The RAM Light Speed rod holders get quite a work out in this episode, as do the Okuma Salina 2 reels I'm using to haul 'em in. Enjoy
YCKF E2 Red Sardine Saga

I'm pleased to announce the unleashing of the latest episode of Yakass Coastal Kayak Fishing (YCKF), which covers the past month or so of tough fishing conditions on the NSW Nth & Mid Nth coast. I'm using the Rapala Magnum CD red sardine colour almost exclusively here, the very same one that did most of the damage at Fraser Island. After all these fish, it's still going strong as evidenced in this episode. Also included is an introduction to the RAM Light Speed rod holder, put to the test on snapper and cobia.

Hot on the heels of the 1st in this 2-part episode of Yakass Coastal Kayak Fishing, the 2nd offering is now complete. Although the clip is a couple of minutes longer its also faster paced than the first, with some great sailing, fishing and shark-wrestling action. With the conclusion of this clip I've truly saved the best for last, so watch through to the end. Best watched full screen.

I'm proud to reveal the first episode of Yakass Coastal Kayak Fishing Show, which is the a 2-part account of our Fraser Island expedition. Part 1 covers days 1 - 4 and features some great trevally, flathead and a small spanish mackerel. It also offers a fleeting flashback to our 2009 trip, so viewers will also see some other species hauled aboard as well. With a runtime of just over 12 minutes and high quality video and audio, this clip is a larger file than my channel subscribers would be use to, so it may pay to let it buffer for a bit. Best watched in full screen.
Part 2 will be live by the end of the weekend, will be a bit longer than the 1st part and will likely be even more action packed, and with an ending that promises to satisfy :-)
